Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-500, timbetasin)
🔍 Description:
Thymosin Beta-4 (TB-500, also known as timbetasin) is a synthetic version of a naturally occurring peptide that plays a vital role in tissue repair, regeneration, and inflammation reduction. This peptide is widely recognized for its potential to accelerate healing and improve recovery, particularly in the context of musculoskeletal injuries. Its ability to promote cell migration and differentiation makes it a valuable tool in regenerative medicine and athletic recovery.
💪 Health Benefits:
– Tissue Repair and Healing: TB-500 is highly effective in promoting the repair and regeneration of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It accelerates recovery from injuries by enhancing angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) and reducing scar tissue formation.
– Anti-Inflammatory Effects: By modulating inflammatory responses, TB-500 helps reduce pain and swelling in injured areas, facilitating a quicker return to physical activity.
– Cell Regeneration and Protection: TB-500 has been shown to protect cells from oxidative damage and apoptosis (cell death), promoting the regeneration of damaged tissues. This includes benefits in wound healing, cardiac repair, and even corneal healing in eye injuries.
– Improved Flexibility and Endurance: Regular use of TB-500 may enhance flexibility and reduce stiffness, making it beneficial not only for injury recovery but also for preventing injuries by maintaining optimal tissue elasticity and function.
💉 Dosing/Administration:
– Typical Dosage: The recommended dosage is 2-2.5 mg per dose, administered twice a week. The dosage may vary depending on the severity of the injury and the individual’s response.
– Administration Method: TB-500 is usually administered via subcutaneous injection, ideally near the site of injury to target the affected area directly. It can also be administered systemically depending on the treatment goals.
– Cycling: TB-500 is typically used in cycles of 4-6 weeks, followed by a break period. This cycling helps maintain its effectiveness, prevents desensitization, and allows the body to maximize the peptide’s regenerative properties.
⚠️ Side Effects and Safety:
– Common Side Effects: Most users experience minimal side effects, with the most common being mild reactions at the injection site, such as redness, swelling, or discomfort. Some users may also experience transient flu-like symptoms, such as fatigue or mild headaches, during the initial phase of treatment.
– Safety Profile: TB-500 is generally considered safe when administered correctly under medical supervision. However, as with any peptide therapy, it is essential to monitor for any adverse reactions, particularly in individuals with pre-existing health conditions. Long-term safety data is limited, so its use should be approached cautiously, especially in non-clinical settings.
Thymosin β-4 is absolutely contraindicated for anyone with cancer. https://bengreenfieldlife.com/article/biohacking-articles/are-peptides-safe/
🔬 Research Insights:
– Role in Angiogenesis and Wound Healing: Studies have shown that TB-500 significantly promotes angiogenesis, which is crucial for wound healing and tissue regeneration. This makes it a promising candidate for treating chronic wounds and injuries.
– Cardiac Repair Potential: Research indicates that TB-500 may play a role in cardiac tissue repair post-myocardial infarction by promoting heart muscle regeneration and reducing scar tissue formation.
– Ocular Applications: TB-500 has been studied for its potential in treating corneal injuries and diseases, demonstrating protective effects on corneal epithelial cells and accelerating healing in the eye.

Thymosin β4 (Tβ4) is a 43-amino-acid polypeptide naturally produced in humans, encoded by the TMSB4X gene. TB-500 frag is TB-500 Fragment 17-23, a portion of that Tβ4 molecule. AFAIK, It was first used for improving performance of horse racing https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0021967312014550. It was named TB-500, but somehow TB-500, probably because of it’s notoriety, got conflated by synthesizers with Tβ4. So then the community started referring to TB-500 Frag to differentiate. TB-500 frag has a multi-day half-life while Tβ4 is much shorter (hours). So the protocols are quite different. Each has their own fans and advocates. At this point it is difficult to find the lyophilized frag…mostly sold by synthesizers in raw powder form.
I would argue it is incorrect to state: _ TB-500 frag is TB-500 Fragment 17-23_ as if there is only one frag out there. There is also frag 1-4 and others:
* TB-4 Frag 1-4 N-acetyl-Ser-Asp-Lys-Pro Ac-SDKP (also known as seraspenide or goralatide) molecular formula C20H33N5O9 – 487.5 Daltons is a peptide fragment of TB4 is assumed to act similarly to TB4 in some parts. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0361923019304253
It would be far less confusing if everyone always referred to the fully qualified specific fragment. e.g. rather than ‘tb-500-frag’ refer to ‘tb-500-frag-17-23’. For good measure one could also refer to the full one as Tβ4-43.
Below is some information I found about the different frags:
TB4 full 43-amino-acid chain molecular weight: 4963 Daltons
… some of these fragments [are] available to those who are looking to target specific processes and avoid others.
The first that was available:
TB4 Frag 17-23: 889 Daltons Targets MusculoSkeletal Repair which is awesome only it is also the fragment that may destabilize Mast Cells
TB4 Frag 1-15: To address cytoxicity and reduce apoptosis
TB4 Frag 1-4: Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Fybrotic – useful to reduce scarring and decrease TNF alpha, also good for immune support
TB4 Frag 40-43: Particularly beneficial for heart support/health
A few notes on these:
Your research subject will need a LOT less of these than the full TB4 – how much less varies from one fragment to another.
Dosing –
